How to plan summer camps between two homes

Treat residence, camp attendance and transport as separate layers. That makes it easier to compare options without turning the calendar into a disagreement.

1. Confirm the planning period

Use the official school-break dates for the child's school and note local variations. Place known residence exceptions before adding camps.

2. Compare actual camp hours

Record drop-off, collection and optional extended care. A brochure's “full day” label is not enough for a coverage calculation.

3. Keep status and deadlines explicit

Track idea, application opening, application sent, waitlist and confirmed as different states.

  • Who submits the registration?
  • Which information or consent is required?
  • When does the price become non-refundable?

4. Assign transport

Name drop-off and pickup responsibility for each child. Flag simultaneous pickups in different places without inventing travel time.

5. Review the remaining coverage

Subtract confirmed intervals from the actual care need and leave provisional care visible until confirmed.

Should a camp be assigned to the home where the child sleeps?

Residence and camp responsibility can be recorded separately. Follow the family's applicable arrangement and make the handoff explicit.

How should costs be shown?

Record expected, confirmed and paid amounts with the payer. Any split remains indicative.

What if the camp is waitlisted?
