Free interval checker

Childcare gap detector

A day can contain several valid solutions and still leave 20, 45 or 90 minutes uncovered. This checker merges confirmed intervals and subtracts them from the required window.

Try an example

Confirmed care 1
Confirmed care 2
Provisional care
Required 08:30–18:00; camp 08:30–16:30; grandparent 17:45–18:00. Gap: 16:30–17:45.

Local demonstration: nothing is saved until you create an account.

How to use it

  1. Enter the need

Use the real earliest and latest care time.

  2. Add confirmed intervals

Overlapping and adjacent blocks are merged automatically.

  3. Keep provisional care separate

A waitlist or unconfirmed pickup remains visible without pretending the day is solved.

Worked example

Required 08:30–18:00; camp 08:30–16:30; grandparent 17:45–18:00. Gap: 16:30–17:45.

Why a middle gap matters

Two valid activities can leave travel or supervision between them. The tool reports the interval but does not estimate travel time without a mapping service.

Confirmation changes the calculation

An idea, application or waitlist can help planning, but it must remain provisional. Only an interval explicitly marked confirmed is subtracted from the coverage need.

Account registration is temporarily unavailable

You can keep using this tool for free in your browser. Accounts will activate after the required validations.

FAQ

Common questions

Do adjacent intervals create a gap?

No. If one confirmed interval ends exactly when the next begins, coverage is continuous.

Does the tool calculate travel time?

No. It can flag simultaneous pickups in different locations, but does not invent journey time.

Can provisional care remove a gap?

No. It is displayed alongside the gap until confirmed.
